Historic Notes: Back in the 1860s, when Sri Lanka was called Ceylon, the island's economy was in crisis. The coffee crop had failed, and there was only one thing for it: to grow tea instead.

But no one could have imagined how light or fresh that tea would be. After one sip of the amber liquid, the islanders' thirst was quenched. And coffee was forgotten forever.
